Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How many tickets will go on sale?

A. This is an exclusive event with limited ticket sales. It is expected the event will sell out quickly – especially full tickets offering a seat at the roundtable discussions and voting rights. A small number of tickets will be made available to event observers in the public gallery. To avoid disappointment, we recommend that you purchase your ticket as soon as possible.

Q. What is the difference between a full ticket and a one-day ticket?

A. The full-ticket gives you access to all keynote sessions and performances. It also gives you a seat at the table of the General Assembly where you will have the opportunity to discuss, debate and vote upon the proposed protocols, policies and laws. The one day tickets are for observers who sit in a public gallery and are not involved in the roundtable discussions or vote.

Q. Where will the event be held?

A. The Paradise Room at the Arts Centre Gold Coast is the main venue for 2970° The Boiling Point: Practising Democracy. The opening welcome function will be staged in The Basement at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. See schedule page for full details.

Q. How will Julian Assange appear?

A. Julian Assange will be the final keynote speaker at 2970° The Boiling Point: Practising Democracy. He will be appearing via live video link from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. In the event that the video link is disrupted or fails, the keynote will be delivered by phone link-up.

Q. What is included in the ticket price?

A. The top value tickets include presentations from some provocative thinkers, citizen responses, the opportunity to practise democracy (full ticket holders only) with roundtable discussions and proposed protocol/policy votes as well as catering throughout the day. Please see the above table for specific inclusions.
